Design matters
Rethinkers
Rethink your work - nail your thing, create your thing, share your thing with the World
There is an art to creating transformational experiences that deliver and make an impact. If you are a consultant, trainer, coach, speaker, you are in the game of creating change. So you have to understand how to design experiences that deliver change. It sounds simple, and obvious, but it's hugely overlooked.
The world is now a place where anyone can be anything, kind of. But that doesn't mean that everyone is brilliant at it.
You can be a speaker, but how can you be the best speaker.
You can run a workshop but how can you nail it so people walk away transformed.
You can share your story but how does that help others?
It's the next level of thinking that helps you to stand out.
How you design, in detail, your experience matters. There are 3 areas you must work through, in detail.
Do you really know your audience? Not just who they are, but where they are?
What is the transformation? How are you using your knowledge? - not just sharing all the content, but designing it to deliver for the audience.
How are you delivering? - what is the best format, style, environment - are you doing a talk or a workshop or training or a thinking space? What are you good at? What does the experience need?

Don't overlook the design development of your experience, it's the foundation for everything else. Your work will flow more easily, you'll love delivering it, your marketing will feel light not heavy.
Mapping out your methodology
As you work through the design elements it might start to feel overwhelming, especially if you are doing it properly. You'll have a lot to work through and think about. So a working towards creating a methodology framework will help you.
And as well as organising your thoughts and ideas it will serve to create your product and marketing.
Every expert needs a framework in their life!
So if you are developing a new idea for a workplace learning experience, don't be afraid to start with just a while heap of ideas scribbled on post-it notes, notebooks, pieces of paper.
Then start to organise into themes, key moments, key messages - thinking about your audience, content and delivery as you work through.
It's not easy. And you can feel like giving up many times. But it's work in progress, always. For everyone. Not even the pros are 'done'.
So how about you have a crowd of people around you to support all of this thinking. That's what Recommended academy is all about.
Supporting each other. Because the work is never done.
