Retaining Wall Remediation Works Along Railway Embankment
This project involves of removing the overgrown vegetation along the existing brick wall, reinforcing the wall using Bar Flex/Cem Flex tie bars and grouting and then anchoring the wall using mechanical Platipus? anchors and Plati-Drain? to improve the drainage.
As part of the design scheme, a Ground Movement Assessment (GMA) was also undertaken by IBEX Consulting Engineers Limited which has considered several loading / unloading excavation scenarios along the toe of the railway embankment to a maximum depth of 1.9m.
The potential impact/damage induced on the existing NR railway tracks has been evaluated on the basis of the calculated ground movement fields.
The differential settlement between the two parallel tracks (cant) and the change in cant along the line of the track (twist) are calculated from the vertical displacements calculated from the unloading in OASYS Pdisp and construction in OASYS Xdisp for the line of the tracks.
The tracks were expected to be within the zone of influence of the excavation and proposed development however the analysis shows that the influence is negligible.
