Design Career Spotlight: Betty Guerra
We caught up with Betty Guerra , a Senior Designer at NOW . She discussed her role, her career highlights so far, and what she's most excited about coming up at NOW ??
1.????Can you tell us more about your role at NOW?
I joined NOW in November 2021; as a Digital Designer at the time, I was brought in to sprinkle some magic on our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) comms – since then I’ve helped the CRM team launch their new onboarding programmes for our Sports and non-Sports members, established templates for the newsletters, Boost up-sells, membership Cross-Sells and Winbacks. I’ve also helped create new viewing triggers via Rich Push and IPNs (In Product Notifications) and set automated comms for our lapsing and lapsed base. In September this year I was promoted to Senior Designer – to help lead creative across the CRM and Digital Marketing channels.
2.????What’s your career highlight so far??
There are quite a few highlights to note – working on huge content launches (House of the Dragon, The Last Of Us, F1 + PL Start of Season), becoming Senior Designer, joining Sky United Women’s Football Club, nailing Black Friday, and (not to show off) winning 4 NOW internal awards including a Sky Star. I think the one that tops it all is presenting to the whole of NOW in the Sky Cinema – it was a nerve-wracking experience, but I know the more I do it, the easier it’ll get.
Aside from that little accomplishment, I’d also like to highlight... starring in a TV Ad with Katherine Ryan! Cue: Panic! At The Disco “Hey Look Ma, I Made It”. Ok, I was an Extra, but it was still a fun couple days out from the norm (thanks to an internal competition) and I get to brag about being on TV. The perks of the job!?
3.????What's the best thing about your role??
Simply put: I get to do what I love! Being part of the best Design team I’ve ever worked in, for a fun brand, at an iconic company. Getting to know what’s coming up in TV over the coming year. Achieving work/life balance. Creating meaningful designs with brilliant content that’ll generate results. Collaborating with great minds. The list goes on...

4.????What do you love about the Sky Campus?
Compared to Central London (where for over 29 years I lived, went to school, and worked), the Osterley campus is a lot more peaceful in my opinion... and I love it! Cleaner air, lush-looking gardens all year round (the gardeners do an amazing job!) and a large safe space dedicated to Sky. Not to forget the choice of places to eat, the numerous amenities, the diverse cultural events, and the celeb-spotting you can do on campus. Chef’s kiss.
5.????Who inspires you?
This question is a toughie, as I’m inspired by everyone I come across – those that I work with and those that I don’t necessarily work with but I’m aware of. The whole of NOW/Sky and my wider NOW Lab team consists of a lovely bunch of people from different backgrounds, numerous cultures, with a diverse range of interests which I admire as I get to learn something new every day.
Above all, my wonderful design team is just amazing: like above, we all have different interests, from art to sports – we learn from each other, we help each other, we get to geek out over design and Figma together, we produce quality work. I don’t mean to proper sell it, but my team is actually the best!
6.??What are you most excited about coming up at NOW??
Content-wise, there’s so many titles to look out for, but I won’t say too much! I’m excited for Sky’s new Premier League agreement (yay, more football!!) and we all know that season 2 of House of the Dragon is coming so that’ll be an exciting one to work on given the success of the first season. Also, we all know that Christmas happens once a year, so watch this space... next year. Oh, and before I forget... bring on the summer party!
7.????What’s your favourite Show, Movie or Sport on NOW?
Ooo, another toughie... there’s so many! I’m really into my football at the minute so WSL and PL for sure. I’m also a sucker for the drama, costumes and references to true stories in The Gilded Age. I’d also like to call out David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, And Just Like That..., The White Lotus, Intelligence, The Last Of Us, Elvis.... Stop me!
