Desi glue

Desi glue

I belong to the millieu of generation which has grown up along with the above blue shabby looking plastic blue bottle, which used to have a black cap, on opening the cap you would find a wannabe brush, inside the bottle you would also find slimy glue which would function as per its whims and fancies...sometimes it would work as adhesive and sometimes not. School kids would carry it in their school bags for emergency uses if not for pasting then sniffing, one snort at the beginning of the class would last for the entire day. One would also find them in post offices of course the cap would be missing, but there would be a stick inside it which could be used to paste envelopes or stamps (sometimes even repeated licking of stamps would not activate the adhesive), however at times the postmaster would add excess water to the depleting adhesive, which if applied to the envelop would damage even the contents. In such cases people would often been seen standing outside the post office in the sun gently waving the envelop waiting for the glue to dry up.

Mohalla grocery stores would hang out these bottles for sale, but eventually would be forced by mohalla kids to keep a trial bottle for general use.

The advent of Fevicol has finished many such micro enterprises which were involved in the making of such bottles and also the reinvented imagination of users like us.
