I bonds captured the attention of financial advisors last year, when their return reached an eye-popping 9.62%, their highest ever. As stock and bond markets rode a roller coaster in 2022 and closed out that year with truly dreadful losses (in particular, for bonds), hordes of investors stormed the Treasury Department website to buy the paper, at one point causing it to shut down.
