University of Derby students aiming to be the hospitality industry’s managers of the future were invited to hear about the Amaris Hospitality “talent pipeline” one of the largest hotel owners and managers in the UK and Ireland.
Amaris Hospitality has more than 70 hotels trading under leading brands including Jurys Inn, Mercure, MGallery, IBIS Styles, Crowne Plaza, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn.
Students heard how Amaris Hospitality is looking for its future leaders by offering graduate programmes, internships and work experience when I went to meet them at the Buxton Campus.
“A big thing for us is the talent pipeline,”. “75 per cent of our general managers have come through the company, and we are growing. We have award winning development programmes and we need to ensure we are in the market to select the best students to benefit from them.
For a student the advantage of networking with an organisation and participating in their development programmes during study is so important to kick start a career in hospitality after study. Amaris Hospitality run an ACORN internships programme for 24 or 48 weeks in hotel operations. The programme is a great way to help students develop and its a working interview for the future. Successful ACORN Interns may return after study for a full time job or take part in our Amaris Hospitality 2-year Graduate Programme. After an internship our aim is to always keep in touch with students share our successes and future plans and ensure we are in the mix when they come to select and employer. That puts us ahead of the pack. We keep in touch because we are building a network for the future. A forward thinking company will always put student engagement in it's list of priorities and remember students pick us and much as we select them.
