The Hotel & Gaming Trades Council (HTC), one of New York's leading unions, seeks an experienced Deputy Political Director to join its team and help drive the union’s political and policy agenda leading up to the 2025 NYC elections. If you’re a skilled political professional with a passion for social justice and a background in local campaigns and policy work, HTC wants to hear from you.
- Electoral Strategy: Serve as a principal strategist for the union’s efforts in the 2025 NYC elections, helping to develop campaign strategies for citywide and council races.
- Lobbying & Policy: Directly lobby city and state government officials on HTC’s priorities, and craft legislative solutions to address the union’s challenges.
- Research & Analysis: Conduct major and minor research projects to determine HTC’s political and policy priorities.
- Union Collaboration: Work closely with union organizers to engage members, particularly in political education and activism efforts.
- Leadership Briefings: Regularly brief union leadership on a variety of political and policy topics.
- Experience: At least seven years of political and/or policy experience, including work on political campaigns, government, policy advocacy, or research.
- Skills: Strong research, communication, and strategic thinking abilities. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment is key.
- Commitment to Social Justice: A passion for the labor movement and advancing social justice, particularly through political engagement.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work nights and weekends as required.
- Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.

- Location: This position is based 100% in-person at the union’s midtown office with occasional field assignments and travel.
