Deploying AI at scale - insights from our class from David Knott’s session
Background?
In this post, I share my personal views about the insights from our class from David Knott. David Knott is the CTO of the UK Government.???
David was the keynote at our last Oxford summit - UK Govt CTO David Knott's keynote at the Oxford AI summit - interesting ideas?
PS the next Oxford AI summit is on June 27 - 28 - we are also very pleased to have David as the keynote again.??
David has been a great supporter of my work at Oxford and Justice AI Unit
In this session, I share some of my personal insights which resonated with me about deploying AI at scale
Deploying AI at scale
AI is moving past the prototyping / experimentation phase and into AI Engineering / Scale/ Practise. Currently, we face some unique challenges due to this.? David touched on some aspects of this transformation
Note below is my interpretation of the session
Human in the loop sounds logical but it needs consideration. If a Self driving car asks at every turn for human feedback - it is not a self driving car. It is a car!?
The UK Post office scandal - while not related to AI - was a problem because there were too many humans in the loop.
In future, we could use Agents to file tax returns. Such an agent would need a extensive personal information to act on our behalf.?
I also share some more insights below from the class that I found interesting (included with permission)
Finally, there was a question on how policy makers can learn AI.
Dan James and I are considering such a course at the University of Oxford -
#AI for #Policymakers
I really like David’s views and I recommend you follow his newsletter
I also recommend The AI opportunities action plan and the document from David’s team AI playbook for UK Government?
Our work on Democratising AI
David has been a great supporter and inspiration for my work in Oxford - especially on our idea of democratising the learning of AI.
Me and Anjali Jain developed a number of ideas in class that help non developers learn AI which we are sharing more broadly as a book and in Oxford.
I am even working to skill up the next generation using an Open methodology - using GPT and chatGPT - also developed as a part of our teaching.?
If you want to register your interest at the next AI summit please update here Oxford AI summit is on June 27 - 28 - The next summit will be on AI agents and the website will be updated soon .?

1 个月Human in the loop is vital. Otherwise fully autonomous vehicle may take a person to the park when she wants to go to the office ??
