Deploy SAP ERP via Waterfall or Agile? Let the battle commence.

Deploy SAP ERP via Waterfall or Agile? Let the battle commence.

As the new year is upon us, it is time for me to make a wish: finally, put the exhausting discussion between waterfall and agile project management to rest.

The story below becomes illustrates how this battle can be won.

Tom and Harry had been SAP consultants for decades, working on projects worldwide. They had seen much success in their careers but often disagreed about which project management process would best suit implementing an SAP system. Tom was a firm believer in waterfall methodology because he felt it allowed for greater control throughout each stage of the project; however, Harry preferred agile as he thought it gave teams more flexibility during development.?

Whenever these two got together at lunchtime, there was bound to be a lively argument about this topic - and today was no exception. As soon as everyone sat down, Tom and Harry began their verbal sparring match with plenty of colourful languages thrown around! Everyone else at the table listened intently, trying not to get caught up in crossfire from either side!?

Just when things seemed like they were going nowhere fast (with neither side backing down), Isard proposed a solution: combining waterfall and agile processes into what she called the "Fast Implementation Track". At first, Tom and Harry were reluctant to accept her idea - after all, if one process works better than another, why bother blending them? But eventually, they became intrigued by Isard's suggestion and decided to try it on their next project.?

The Fast Implementation Track ultimately proved successful beyond anyone's expectations. They deployed ERP on time, within budget, and fit for purpose! This success story spread across the internet like wildfire, with more and more people agreeing that the Fast Implementation Track worked great - proving once again that sometimes mixing ideas is just what you need for true innovation!

You can make my dream come true. Dive deeper into the philosophy of the Fast Implementation Track and give it a go!

Helping You moving forward...

Hey Isard Haasakker in my opinion scope, complexity and the (fit within the) organisation determine the approach… the constant need to choose between one or the other makes me tired honestly (seen it so many times) as any execution “by the book in one of the extremes” will fail… that pragmatism is what I am looking for! Before I forget: enjoy the end of 2022 ????
