Deploy DeepSeek on AWS

Deploy DeepSeek on AWS

DeepSeek is the talk of the town. If you want to deploy and use it on AWS cloud. You can check below options. Amazon Bedrock gives you possibilities to use different Foundational Models based on your needs. Deploying the DeepSeek R1 model on Amazon Bedrock involves utilizing the Custom Model Import feature, which allows you to integrate your externally fine-tuned models into the Bedrock environment seamlessly. This process enables you to leverage Bedrock's serverless infrastructure and unified API for efficient model deployment.

Option 1: SageMaker Deployment

  1. Visit the link: https://huggingface.co/deepseek-ai/DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Llama-70B
  2. Click on the "Deploy" button
  3. Select "Amazon SageMaker" as your deployment target
  4. Follow the SageMaker deployment workflow

Option 2: Bedrock Custom Model Import

  1. Select the Llama Distilled variant only (important: other variants are not compatible)
  2. Upload the model weights and configuration files to an S3 bucket
  3. Use Bedrock Custom Model Import to import the model
  4. Reference link: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/bedrock/latest/userguide/model-customization-import-model.html

For those implementing this, remember to:

  • Monitor costs
  • Test thoroughly in a development environment first
  • Keep security best practices in mind
  • Document any specific configurations for your use case
  • Check with your security and legal team
