Departmental research day

Both Mechanical Engineering at the University of Turku and Materials Engineering at the University of Turku joined forces this Tuesday for a 2nd annual research day for the whole department.?

The purpose of these annual research days is to familiarize ourselves with the research done in both units. For the doctoral and postdoctoral researchers this is also a great opportunity to practice presenting their posters. One of the greatest things is also to have more relaxed time to figure out who are the new faces at the department and catch up with the old ones, since we do live on different ends of the campus. For this having the opportunity to mingle while sipping coffee is very helpful!

This year we had great posters about designing health technology materials, using machine learning for extracting best process parameters or materials properties, developing additive manufacturing, designing smart systems, refining electrochemical properties of flow batteries, designing better optoelectronics, and improving solar panels. The range of research is impressive! Of course, we also voted for the best posters and this year the prizes went to Matilda Sipil? , Nima Emami , and Naela Delmo & Bahar – congratulations!?

All in all, we want to specifically thank every one of our presenters for their amazing posters and discussions about research!??
