Denzel The Artist walks away with the sportscene Put Me On 2022 crown!

Johannesburg October 2022- On Thursday 13 October, sportscene’s Put Me On 2022 competition came to a thrilling conclusion with Cape Town based rapper, Denzel The Artist, taking the top spot as this year’s winner. Denzel beat over 4000 talented contestants on his road to claim a well-deserved victory and the title of the winner of sportscene x Puma x PUT ME ON 2022.

The finale of #PutMeOn2022 was held at the sportscene Sandton City store where the top ten finalists were given one final opportunity to perform to a live audience and celebrity judges, Youngsta CPT, Kay Faith, Zoocci Coke Dope, and guest judge for the finale, Blxckie as they all gave their opinion on each contestant’s performance. After a tough elimination round, the judges selected three out of the ten artists to perform one more time to show the crowd their full array of talent. It was from this final round that Denzel The Artist stood out as the overall favourite and was announced as the winner of Put Me On 2022.

When asked about how he felt about winning the competition, Denzel said, “There are so many ways to express what I am feeling, but if I had to describe it I would definitely say that I am happy, excited, even a bit relieved. I’m happy because I now have the platform to share my craft as well as the help of professionals to get my music and my vision to where I want it to be. What I’m most excited about would be to build relationships within the industry. I’m ecstatic about the prizes, but I’m even more excited to meet and work with the people in the industry that I’ll now be exposed to.”

Denzel walks away with R30 000 in cash, R50 000 in Puma merchandise, a song produced by one of SA’s top producers, a professional music video, as well as a 6 month PR deal. As a new exciting addition to the prizes, sportscene have organized an all expenses paid trip for Denzel and his manager to attend one of the biggest creative culture events in the world, Complex Con 2023 in Long Beach, California.?
