We were honored to host the Director of Denver's Department of Public Health and Environment at the CoCo Complex this week. As many of you know, CoCo is based in Globeville, a neighborhood in 80216 one of the most polluted zip-codes in the country. DDPHE?recognizes the urgent need for environmental justice and ecological restoration in our community. We discussed our collaboration with Cultivando and Project AIRE - we host one of their air-monitoring stations in our compost yard which collects emission data that will hopefully lead to tightened regulations on petrochemical facilities nearby.
We also discussed the intersectionality of soil restoration and air quality. By integrating?our Class III compost facility in the neighborhood, we will play an integral role in ecological restoration efforts. We are grateful that DDPHE understands the need for more compost infrastructure, and for their love of compost!
