Dentatus "Environmental & Sustainability Policy"

Dentatus AB’s main business comprises the development and manufacture of quality products for dentists and dental laboratories as well as equipment and tools for the fine mechanical engineering industry.

The business consists of mechanical machining in the form of turning, grinding, and drilling. We utilize manual machines such as presses, grinders, drills, lathes, and cutters. In addition, blasting, drumming, and polishing occur. Materials processed are steel, brass, bronze, gold, aluminum, titanium, plastic, and fiberglass. The electrolytic and chemical surface treatment is performed on some of the products. Since November 2013, the business has been located at Finsp?ngsgatan 42, 16353 Sp?nga, Sweden.

Air Quality Control

The surface treatment department has dual systems for process ventilation. One is a ventilating bath for the nickel-plating process, electric polishing as well as fume cupboards and storage cabinets for chemicals. The other ventilate the room for the gold plating process and drawers for solvent.

All process air from blasters and grinders goes into dust filter operations. The air from the surface treatment department and the business, in general, is ventilated via the building’s main system for venting out via drums on the back of the building.

Waste Management

The waste consists of corrugated and other types of packaging, recycled paper, used emulsion, cutting fluid, chips, and liquids from polishing stations.

Waste Water Management

No process water is discharged into the waste network from the business. Rinsing water, floor scrubbing water, and tumbling water are collected in one tank with an immersion heater used as an evaporator. This process evaporates water and the remaining settlement is emptied and transported to the local recycling truck (Ragn-Sells plant).

Chemical Handling

Chemicals are managed in allowance with the European REACH Directive (Regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals). The chemical list is available and updated continuously. The list contains information on the name, supplier, marking, and classification of the chemicals, as well as purchased and consumed quantities. The safety data sheets are available in a binder in the Sp?nga office.

There are no floor wells in our production area and the whole area is enclosed. Chemicals and oils used in the business are stored in fire cabinets, on trays at cargo berths, in acid and base cabinets in the waste room, and to some extent used in the output of products.

Chemical Waste Management

Chemical waste and hazardous waste are handled in a separate, selected waste room. The waste is stored in marked barrels. A local recycling company collects waste, both chemical residues and substances.

Transport Management

The purchasing company pays transport on outgoing goods. Transport of goods is done only on weekdays.

“The three R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle” and further recommendations

Once a year in conjunction with the preparation of an environmental report, energy, water, and chemical use is reviewed. The review aims, if possible, to reduce energy, chemicals, and water consumption and to replace environmentally hazardous chemical products with less hazardous ones. During the review, waste quantities are also checked, how waste is handled, and possibilities for recycling/reuse of substances in production.

 We, here at Dentatus, follow the ’Product choice principle’ meaning that when purchasing chemical products and raw materials, the content must be evaluated. Before a new product is purchased and used, it must be approved by the production manager.
