In honor of spooky season…?

How the Hidden Sounds of Horror Movie Soundtracks Freak You Out

Making you anxious while watching a film is an art form and science.?

On the Science of Creepiness

There’s definitely reasons why people, places, and things creep us out.?

The Spooky Science of Why Mirrors Can Freak Us Out So Much

We’ve actually been using mirrors since the medieval period to summon people.

And back to our usual programming…?

Amber Case: We’re Already Cyborgs

Even 11 years later, we still love this National Geographic talk from Denter Amber Case . She made the argument that still applies (and possibly even more so) that we’re all actually cyborgs, defined as, “an organism to which exogenous components have been added for the purpose of adapting to new ambient environments.”

HBS Paper: Navigating the Jagged Technological Frontier

Here’s a recent Harvard Business School paper on the impact of AI (specifically GPT-4) on the productivity and quality of work done by 758 management consultants. Consultants were randomly assigned to complete realistic consulting tasks either with no AI, with GPT-4, or with GPT-4 plus training on how to use it effectively. Spoiler alert: there are cyborgs (Amber!) and centaur classifications involved.

Orion: Finally, a Screen That Goes Anywhere

Sometimes simple things get our community excited - like an app that helps you use your iPad as an external HDMI display. Hello even better Switch gaming on-the-go.?

Everett Harper, MBA ‘99: What Matters to Me Now and Why

“As I’d come to learn, the business world is more about solving complicated problems with lots of unknowns than linear ones with clear answers.” We really appreciate longtime Denter Everett Harper 's insights on how he’s applied his Stanford-learned leadership abilities to lead his software company, Truss .?
