IP STARS 2024: Celebrating team triumphs

IP STARS is a specialist guide covering 11 IP practice areas and more than 80 jurisdictions, making it an authoritative publication in the profession since 1994. A team of analysts in London, New York and Hong Kong performs rigorous yearly research on firms and practitioners, parsing a variety of data types, including:

• Firm-submitted research forms
• Client interviews
• Online surveys
• Publicly available information (such as from IP offices and courts)

This culminates in accurate and trustworthy measures, including various rankings for individuals held in high regard by peers and clients: IP Star and Rising Star, with Notable practitioners also being marked for commendation.

In 2024, IP STARS had a lot to say about the Dennemeyer team, highlighting three leading practitioners:

Leaders League: Showcasing quality

Paris-based rating agency Leaders League seeks to "bring the world's markets together" — and IP is a particularly effective avenue for such unification, often bridging the gap between different disciplines, jurisdictions and perspectives. The agency celebrates this through its comprehensive rankings and in-depth analysis, which are used by a wide range of corporate and executive decision-makers.

The research process includes three months of data collection from four main sources:

• Firm applications: Firms provide information on performance, top cases, differentiating factors, clients and more. The agency also offers confidential editor interviews, enabling firms to explain their data.
• Client feedback: Leaders League contacts top legal and financial advisors, general counsels and CFOs where a firm is based. It also reaches out to clients listed as references in firm applications. The agency conducts this research on its own behalf to get "much more spontaneous" responses, praise and criticism.
• Peer feedback: Application forms and interviews ask firms to comment on market peers; Leaders League considers this feedback carefully but does not treat it as absolute truth.
• Qualified third-party review: As a ranking agency, Leaders League works with service providers across specialties. It contacts operators from adjacent fields to provide unbiased feedback on, say, law firms, creating a wide market view that can "strengthen the validity" of its rankings.

After one month of processing, analyzing and finalizing ratings, Leaders League publishes its lists recognizing firms in various practice areas. In 2024, its IP directory has a separate record for brand and patent filing — and Dennemeyer & Associates is ranked as a leading firm in Luxembourg.
