AI has been with us since many years, it's hard to believe that a term that dates back to 1955 wikipedia and that I have had basics university cours on year two thousand, is one of the hottest topics in technology in twenty twenty.

We need to distinguish two use cases of AI

1. Weak AI called "narrow AI" which is a collection of technology that use programmatic response to simulate intelligence, for instance Alexa is a virtual digital assistant developed by Amazon. Alexa's capabilities mimic those of other intelligent assistants such as Apple Siri, Microsoft Cortana, Google Assistant and Samsung Bixby. Alexa responds to voice control by returning information on products (on Amazon of course), music, news, weather, sports and more..
2. Strong IA Also called "True AI" intended to think on it own. Inspired from neuroscience to design AI systems that emulate human intelligence and to build neural network that mimic brain structure. True IA is designed to learn and adapt to make better decision based on context, nuance resulting of a reasoned analysis.

With This distinction in mind. What is then ML ?

Machine learning (ML) is simply a specific type of AI put in practice, with the goal of giving a computing device access to some store and data sources, allowing it to learn from it.
