Dems, Dooms and Dummies

Dems, Dooms and Dummies

The Schloss-Blog is watching things around the world and around the corner, and they ain't looking good.

I'm a devout Democrat, have been all my life. My mother would roll over now if I wavered.

But I might be close, at least to becoming an Independent.

Democrats are screwing up all over. Could lose both the House and the Senate in 2022. Maybe the White House in 2024, but it doesn't look like Trump will run again. More on that in a moment.

A lot of black marks against the Dems right now.

Every time it seems they can pass budget and infrastructure legislation, they begin to argue with themselves.

Yo, schmucks - keep that up, you'll accomplish nothing and the Republicans will take back Congress, which means Biden's legislative agenda goes nowhere, which it already might anyway, and the Republicans will have a chance to block the next Supreme Court appointment, which they will.

That means voting rights and pro-choice rights, among other 'lefts,' are leaning right.

Someone please pinch Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin. And tell the progressive and moderate wings of the party to start cooperating.

It's already bad enough a Democrat in charge will take the blunt of the blame for Afghanistan.

Let me see if I have this straight, before we get back to Dems, mistakes and Afghanistan.

The Republican governors of Texas, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi, among others, whose states' hospitals are filling with new Delta strain-driven COVID patients, those governors who are watching their citizens suffer and die, refuse to administer the necessary mitigation steps that would deter the virus, although a Florida court just ruled against Dr. Death DeSantis' blocking of mask mandates.

Meanwhile though, those same governors are simultaneously begging the federal government for help in the way of more doctors, nurses, medicines and makeshift hospital facilities to deal with the overflow of COVID cases against which they won't mitigate themselves.

These men are next to murderers. They might as well be committing genocide against their citizens when their first job is to protect them.

Now, their citizens need protection from them.

But back in Afghanistan, I'm no military expert nor a polished politician. But it takes neither to see the Taliban takeover of the place where empires go to die was quicker than the “experts" expected and the evacuation was worse.

Now we're under attack there. Americans are dying.

So is America's reputation around the world.

To be sure, Trump set this up. Negotiating with the Taliban is a losing proposition; they lie, cheat and don't keep their word.

Yet, right now, they need us and we them. It is in both our interests to secure the airport and expedite our exit from Afghanistan, which we both want.

Strange bedfellows, indeed.

But the twist in all this is that the website page on which the GOP declared that Trump's agreement with the Taliban to clear out of Afghanistan was Nobel Prize-worthy, well, it's been taken down, out of embarrassment and shame.

However, right now, Biden is taking the heat for Trump's illogical, egomaniacal, outrageous agreement with them (he called them great fighters and negotiators, respectively, these pigs who spent 20 years killing Americans).

Trump took a hit when he pulled us out of Syria, leaving our allies, the Kurds, at the mercy of their sworn enemies, the Turks. It was quite a hit to the word of the United States around the world.

We need a shovel. We're in a very deep hole that Trump dug.

With Biden in, we were supposed to be back. Can't seem to go a week now without having to try to rebuild the worth of our word again.

And it won't be easy.

Can't seem to go a week without COVIDiots rearing their ugly heads, setting America two steps back every time it seems we take one step forward.

In Florida, pediatric ICU's are welcoming COVID patients. COVID!! Because their parents, who had their kids vaccinated long ago for M/M/R (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), won't have their kids get the same for COVID-19.

Now, with the vaccines getting FDA full approval (Pfizer's for now), employers are striking back at the unvaccinated, ostracizing them even further. Delta Airlines is charging unvaccinated employees an extra $200 per month for insurance premiums. Disney World is insisting on full vaccinations or a prospective end to employment.

My gym is back to enforcing mask-wearing to enter. So are my local retailers.

Pretty soon, you won't be able to go anywhere outside of Alabama and Mississippi without a mask, a vaccine or both. Well, except to Texas, Georgia and Florida.

People are being hospitalized, dying in those states because governors refuse to protect the health of their citizens.

Even if one of those governors died, the others likely wouldn't.
