Democrats adopt the destructive Palestinian Playbook
For the last 12 years, there has been no real peace process between Israel and Palestinian leaders. Since Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas left the negotiating table in 2008, the idea of any kind of comprehensive deal between the two sides has been completely theoretical.
But what hasn't ended is the constant stream of Palestinian misinformation, slander, and double talk that dominates much of what so many people mistake for news, ideas, and reality.
And now, the dangerous tactics the Palestinians have used for decades to demonize Israel, make peace deals impossible, and exacerbate and continued the misery of their own people have won over another political group that has begun to embrace those strategies with open arms.
That group is the Democratic Party right here in the U.S.
To fully understand just how much the Democrats and American leftists in general are now following the Palestinian playbook, let's list the key similarities:
1) Single-Minded Hate
The late Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir summed up the real obstacle to peace in the Middle East decades ago when she said: "Peace will come when the Arabs start to love their children more than they hate us. We can forgive them for killing our children. We cannot forgive them from forcing us to kill their children. We will only have peace with them when they love their children more than they hate us."
Prime Minister Meir's sentiments 50 years ago were the result of numerous occasions where Arab leaders rejected very favorable territorial agreements and other peace settlements and opted for war instead. The very clear message was, and has always been, that the Arabs would rather die fighting the Jews than thrive while living alongside them. Just think about the seething hatred an entire group needs to have to sustain such a disastrous outlook. It truly boggles the mind.
Are today's Democrats much different? Their single-minded hatred of President Trump and his supporters knows no bounds. They oppose every policy he puts forth, contradict his every statement, and try to undermine his very humanity just like Islamic radicals regularly attempt to dehumanize Jews in Israel and all over the world,
They don't even like to refer to him as "President Trump," as they immaturely prance around on TV and social media calling him "45" as if referring to him solely as the 45th president is some kind of serious insult. Palestinians and other Israel-haters pull a similar move when they refuse to call the land "Israel." They instead opt for nasty Orwellian terms like "Zionist entity."
And now they are running a presidential campaign with the sole message of "get Trump." There's not one person really planning to vote for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden; they're all just Trump-haters. None of those voters can truly articulate the slightest argument for Biden without talking mostly or all about Trump. It's the most hateful campaign against an incumbent since the pro-slavery Democrats tried to unseat Abe Lincoln in 1864, and that's saying something.
All of this hate has been in place of what could have been four years of deal making with Trump, who came into office with no real orthodoxies to maintain and without a long political career filled with masters to oblige.
Like the wasted 72 years of Palestinian stubbornness in the face of so much Israeli success since 1948, Democrats have chosen a scorched earth policy rather than acknowledge their defeat in the last election or take advantage of any policies they could have pursued with this president on infrastructure, health coverage, and ending U.S. involvement in unending wars.
2) Deceptive Packaging
In both the Middle East and now the U.S., the Arabs and the left are using deceptive names to obscure what their key organizations are all about.
This is especially true with the P.L.O., which stands for "Palestinian Liberation Organization." It's a great name, because who is really against anyone being liberated? Americans and Israelis alike embrace the very idea of liberty in their founding documents, so what better title could there be for a Palestinian movement other than P.L.O.?
The problem is the P.L.O. was founded in 1964, a full three years before Israel took control of Palestinian-populated territories in the West Bank and Gaza. Thus, the organization has always really been about "liberating" all of Israel for its Arab residents.
The P.L.O. should more accurately be named the J.L.O., because it's really a organization dedicated to liberating the Holy Land of all Jews by Palestinian Arabs who refuse to co-exist with them. This was just the kind of unreasonable position the U.S.S.R. wanted to cultivate when it used the KGB to help create the P.L.O. 56 years ago.
Fast forward to 2020 and the Democrats are promoting the very sketchy Black Lives Matter organization. Now, there is nothing wrong with BLM's actual name; because who doesn't really think black lives matter? It's just that the official Black Lives Matter activist group is problematic to say the least.
The BLM's own website declares itself to be an anti-family, pro-Marxist movement, (just like the KGB pushed the P.L.O. to be for decades). Also like the P.LO., the benignly-named BLM is virulently anti-Israel and antisemitic.
Just like the P.L.O. has long conned well-meaning human rights activists and many peace-loving Israelis, Black Lives Matter is looking for much more upheaval than just a reduction in police violence against blacks in America.
Finally, just like the P.L.O. never has been serious about making a final peace deal with Israel, Black Lives Matter doesn't seem to really want a peaceful solution to the problems facing African-Americans. At the very least, there is no consensus among its leadership on how to accomplish much at all.
3) Double Talk
One of the most frustrating things that has dominated Israeli-Palestinian interactions at the leadership level is the tendency of Palestinian leaders to say one thing to the news media in English but something else in Arabic to their own people.
This was something the late P.L.O. founder Yasser Arafat perfected during his many negotiations with Israel and whenever he was in the presence of the English language news media. After spending much of his early years in the public eye sounding and looking like a more violent version of Che Guevara, Arafat started sounding a lot more like a peace-loving hippie beginning in the late 1990s. That is, except when he would speak in Arabic to Palestinians or the Muslim news media.
In his native tongue, Arafat would often promise his people that he would never make any compromises. And it turned out those speeches were the more reliable predictors of what he would actually do, including his decision to launch a violent and prolonged Intifada in response to not getting 100% of what he demanded in peace talks with then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and President Bill Clinton in 2000. It was something Clinton to this day says blindsided and angered him. Perhaps he should have hired a harder-working translator crew to help him see it coming.
Today, the Democrats in Congress are playing this same kind of game. In news media interviews and in the most public forums, they'll often take a more conciliatory tone and admonish all sides to use less divisive rhetoric and avoid violence.
But on social media, where most of their more aggressive followers get all their news, they often take a different tone. Note this dichotomy in the messaging from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who took to the House floor last week to give a weepy account of how Republican Congressman Ted Yoho allegedly called her a derogatory name and how we all must rise above this kind of nasty rhetoric.
Of course, on her social media account, Ocasio-Cortez is proud of her own aggressive and insult-laden rhetoric which dominates her Twitter feed. She even boasted earlier this summer of a childish prank anti-Trumpers pulled on the Chinese owned TikTok app to ruin Trump supporters' chances to get tickets to a Trump rally in Tulsa. Conveniently, that nasty and childish behavior from Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is not what she shows to the public when she addresses the House or during prime time TV interviews.
But perhaps the most egregious example of Democrat double talk in the Palestinian mode is the position so many Democrat mayors and governors are taking when it comes to large gatherings while we continue to fight COVID-19.
Countless Democratic leaders in major cities persist in scolding and threatening citizens from attending bars, large parties, and even church services with more than 50 people. But at the same time, they have encouraged massive anti-police protests that have often numbered in the thousands.
Not only is this a ridiculous rejection of scientific facts about how viruses spread, it also effectively sent the message that nothing these Democrat leaders say about the severity of the virus is true. The subsequent increasing cases of Americans refusing to wear masks or properly social distance is very much the result of this Democrat double talk.
It may not prove to be as deadly as Palestinian double talk, but it's still very dangerous.
4) Hoaxes, Lies, and Blood Libels
Now, let's get really serious.
Palestinians and their allies around the world use three different degrees of misinformation when it comes to Israel. All three of these forms of dangerous propaganda are routinely used by Democrats now against Trump, Republicans in Congress, and their supporters.
The "softest" form of this misinformation is the use of out-of-context information that leaves out key parts of the story. This regularly happens after Palestinian terrorists deliberately commit the double war crime of attacking Israeli civilian sites with rockets launched from Palestinian launchers hidden inside their own civilian areas. Pseudo-supporters of the Palestinian "cause" and sloppy journalists then choose to either only report on the Israeli military response to those attacks, or bury the fact that the Israeli response was caused by the earlier rocket attack much later in the story. The result is almost every horrific terror attack on Jewish civilians is depicted by the Palestinians and almost all of the international news media with headlines announcing an "Israeli Air Strike in Heart of Gaza!", or something along those lines.
We're seeing the same M.O. right now in the way the Democrats and their allies in the news media are covering much of the violence in cities like Portland, Oregon and Seattle. The Democrats and the media never mentioned the 50-straight days of violent rioting in Portland that took place before the Trump administration sent in a small group of Department of Homeland Security agents to detain the ringleaders earlier this month. Like out-of-context headlines about Israeli air strikes, their account of the detentions made it sound like the protests had been peaceful, sporadic, and totally undeserving of any outside intervention.
Less serious, but just as deceitful is the lie of omission the same Democrats and their news media compatriots used to pretend President Trump told Americans to drink cleanser to fight COVID-19. This lie was repeated by top Democrats in the spring and is often referred to even today.
It's the same con, just on a different continent.
But if only it ended at these lies of omission. Sadly, Israel and the Trump administration are the victims of much more aggressive lies all the time. Perhaps the most repeated and effective lie Arabs all over the world tell about Israel is the falsehood that the Israelis have not allowed Muslims to pray at the al Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock, turning what is the third-holiest Islamic site into a "Muslim-free zone."
In reality, Israel did take control of the territory more commonly known by Christians and Jews as the Temple Mount, (Muslims call the Temple Mount and all of Jerusalem "al quds"), in the 1967 Six Day War. But even though it has always been the single holiest site on Earth for all Jews, the state of Israel has always prohibited any organized Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount in order not to offend Arabs praying there. On top of that, Israel has always allowed the Jordanian-staffed organization known as the Waqf to control the administration of the Islamic holy sites on the Temple Mount. That's despite that organization's open hostility to Jews and threats it's made to the archaeological work being done in the area.
To say that the Arabs are spreading a lie about Israel stopping Muslim prayer at al Aqsa is maybe the biggest understatement of our time. But not only do millions of Muslim believe this hoax, it's been the justification for thousands of terrorist attacks for decades. Iran even calls a key part of its terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps the "Al Quds Force."
Democrats rounded up a dangerous posse of their own four years ago when they began their Trump campaign Russia collusion hoax built on illegal practices, and resulting in one of the most divisive and destructive libels in American political history. While the process is just beginning in the expected indictments and eventual punishments for the Democrats and career D.C. bureaucrats who concocted and carried out this horrific lie, the anger and distrust it fostered may not dissipate for a generation.
But the Russia collusion scandal only encouraged another similar hoax as the Democrats took President Trumps comments deliberately out of context to drum up the Ukraine phone call impeachment scam. This too is so reminiscent of the regular lies and twisted campaigns Palestinians and their enablers push against Israel with alarming regularity.
Now, Democrats are similarly looking to use lies and half-truths to demonize the DHS agents who peacefully detained the alleged ringleader rioters in Portland.
First, they promoted the lie that the agents bore no identification, even though video proved they wore numerous DHS badges and patches on their uniforms. It was true that their names were not displayed, but that was because so many DHS agents and workers have had their families threatened after pictures of their name badges were circulated online.
Then, numerous Democrats including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi further put these agents' lives in danger by publicly calling them "storm troopers." Invoking the same Nazi imagery Palestinians often used when they slander Israeli soldiers and police. The sickening similarities here are positively nauseating.
But wait, there's more!
For Jews, the literal blood libel from Europe's Middle Ages has been resurrected by so many Arab leaders in recent decades that perhaps it's now more commonly believed by Muslims in the Middle East than it ever was in Europe.
For those of you unfamiliar with this particularly shameful chapter in human history, the original blood libel accused Jews of using the blood of murdered Christian boys to bake the matzos eaten on the Jewish holiday of Passover. Many historians believe the origin of this murderous slander was not only connected to anti-Jewish hate, but may have also been used to cover up abuse and murder of boys inside the Catholic Church at the time.
Centuries after Jews all over the world came to believe the outrageous blood libel had been thoroughly debunked, the Arab world brought it back. It's so popular now in some corners of the Muslim world that TV shows depicting the blood libel as true routinely air in several Arab countries during Ramadan.
So far, the Democrats have not explicitly perpetrated a hoax accusing President Trump of killing anyone and eating their blood. But they come darn close to that every time they resurrect the "very fine people" hoax despite its thorough debunking over the course of the last three years.
To show just how many prominent people still believe, or think they can get away with pretending to believe, President Trump actually called Neo-Nazis and white supremacists "very fine people," all you have to do is watch Joe Biden's official video launching his entry into the presidential election in 2019. In that video, Biden repeats the hoax and even claims it's the key reason why he decided to get off the sidelines and enter the race.
For millions of Americans, anyone who says Neo-Nazis and KKK members are good people is someone not only worth opposing at the ballot box but also someone who should be violently attacked along with his supporters. Just like the Arabs promoting the blood libel against Jews hope to spur their people to continue attacking Jews and Israelis with that propaganda, it's hard to believe those Democrats spreading the lies of the "fine people hoax" aren't trying to do the same thing to the President of the United States and all those who vote for him.
Now, throw in the massive rash of hate crimes and phony hate crimes committed by Trump-haters in hopes of smearing the president and his supporters. Most Americans may only know about the infamous Jussie Smollett hoax, for which he has yet to admit his guilt or apologize for. But literally hundreds of similar hoaxes have been uncovered since Trump was elected in 2016. It's a national epidemic.
Everyone should realize that this hoax and others like it have helped fuel the nightly violence we've seen in so many American cities lately. These results are eerily like the results we've seen for centuries from hoaxes like the blood libel against Jews or labeling them as "Christ killers." This is no joke.
Of all the underhanded tactics in the world the Democrats could have chosen to emulate, did it really have to be the Palestinian tactics? Apparently, the answer is "yes," at least until someone with more influence and cognitive power than Joe Biden can get them off this ruinous track.
