Democracy versus respect

We have the right to vote for what we believe; we should realise that this is the foundation of democracy. The foundation for which we all fought, for many years. Democracy will also result in the fact that we will be confronted with different opinions. Opinions which might not be aligned with your own.

We need to respect other opinions, opinions based on religion-, political view, or culture, regardless where you are born or raised. In a democracy we need to open our mind and come to consensus. For this we will need cooperation, cooperation is only possible if we do respect each other.

This week we will have the elections in the USA for their new President, whatever others will vote for, respect other opinions, respect other individuals and respect the basics of democracy.
