Dementia Friendly Air Travel

Dementia Friendly Air Travel

I will be attending the next meeting of the Prime Minister's Dementia Challenge team meeting at Exeter Airport tomorrow (24/03/2016).  We are meeting there, so as to include a small airport as well as a big one (Gatwick).

The group contains a wide variety of disciplines to ensure that all possible issues have been considered and included in the plan, including the Civil Aviation Authority, whose role it is to enforce minimum standards.  What the group is aiming for is not just minimum standards, but best practise, from which we can learn and adapt in the future as new ideas about best practise come along.

This is an incredibly exciting project that I am very proud to be part of, making a real and tangible difference and improvement to the lives of people living with dementia and their carers.  Which is hopefully good for business for those businesses that become dementia friendly.

I hope to hear more. I quite often get asked for advice about air travel when someone is wanting their loved one with dementia to fly somewhere.
