Delta Variant COVID Danger

There has been much talk about the dangers of the Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, or COVID-19. Tuesday the 22nd of June Anthony "Tony" Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) warned in a press conference that the Delta variant was quickly spreading to the Americas. He said, “The delta variant is currently the greatest threat in the US to our attempt to eliminate covid-19.”

Is this variant dangerous?

The Economist estimates India has seen more than a million covid deaths in 2021. The responsible delta variant has spread rapidly across borders.?Since its discovery in February, the Delta variant has been identified in 78 countries.

In Bangladesh, Britain, India, Indonesia, and Russia the variant represents more than 85% of viruses identified.?The Economist says scientists believe it may soon be the most prevalent strain in America, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, and Sweden.
