Delta Cargo: 3 things to know and how to join the team

In 2021, Delta’s Cargo division had a record-breaking year, exceeding $1 billion in revenue – their best year to date. For the first time ever, Cargo was also awarded the Domestic Airline of the Year award from the Airforwarders Association for providing reliable service.??

With the growing success of the division, the Cargo team is looking to expand their team. For those who are interested in applying, Cargo has a multitude of exciting opportunities from Sales to Operations. • I started at Delta in 1998 as a Maintenance Utility Employee before moving on to the Materials organization, where I identified my passion for driving continuous improvement. • People – The talent of our people is Delta’s biggest competitive advantage and the reason for our sustained success. As the Cargo business continues to grow, so will the team. • Technology – We’ve made many advances in recent years and have several initiatives on the horizon in 2022. Technology will always be at the forefront of our business as we aim to provide a seamless experience for our customers and team members.
• Sustainability – Delta Cargo is a member of Sustainable Air Freight Alliance (SAFA), a business-led collaborative initiative aiming to reduce its members' environmental footprint. In January, we introduced a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) program tailored to freight forwarders and shippers. Some other actions taken include switching to energy efficient LED lighting in our warehouses, using electric tugs and using 100% biodegradable stretch film and pallet covers in all stations.??

2. Delta carries cargo in the belly of passenger aircraft.??

As much as Delta is known for outstanding customer service while safely transporting millions of passengers each year, the Cargo division serves companies on a global scale in the same manner. Cargo is responsible for the safe, secure and efficient transport of a wide range of freight – live animals and pharmaceuticals to flowers, food and more. If there is a need, Delta can get it there on our aircraft, trucks or via our partners.??

3. It takes a village.??

The Cargo Commercial team includes Field Sales, Sales Development & Analytics, Revenue Management, Network & Forecasting, Marketing & Communications, Alliances and Product Development.??

The Cargo Operations arm of our business operates our Cargo hub network in our main hubs, creates and adjusts policies, developing customer-centric enhancements, safely transporting freight and resolving customer issues. The Cargo Operations side includes North America and international operations, continuous improvement, field support teams, logistics control, call center and more. Although our main offices are in Atlanta, our field sales team and warehouses span the globe.??

The Cargo Commercial and Operations teams work collaboratively to connect the world – all while transporting products and life-saving pharmaceuticals. While the Commercial side focuses on developing the product portfolio to meet customer demand, managing the pricing and commercial process, selling cargo space on our Delta aircraft and building relationships with our JV partners, our Cargo operations teams are focused on accepting, loading and monitoring customer shipments along the journey while building forward-looking operational strategies to ensure we deliver on our customers’ expectations every time.???
