We never suggest that anyone stop homelabbing. Buuuut, if you found this, we think it’s okay to burn your lab down and start over. Where’s Sam Jackson when you need him?

We’ve just unboxed the HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen11 tower server, in for review. These systems are great for SMB and edge use cases, but the ML350 Gen11 doesn’t lack power with dual 60-core Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs. It also has pretty good GPU support and a variety of storage options including a new x4 U.3 NVMe drive cage and to support up to 12 EDSFF PCIe Gen5 NVMe drives.

That’s the case with our video editor, who moved into a new place and needed a server rack with the right aesthetic appeal and feature set to coordinate his wide range of creative work. The Tripp Lite SRQ18U SmartRack Sound Proof 18U rack may just fit that bill. Check out this three-part series on Vince’s journey with this unique enclosure.?Part 1 of 3.

Playing around with HPE GreenLake PCBE and these fantastic Alletra disaggregated HCI systems. New report coming soon.

We’ve been working on a new report taking a deeper look at VMware vSAN ESA. We started out pretty excited to see how the simplified architecture would work and were not let down as we tested multiple RAID and drive configs. We used 4x Dell PowerEdge R6625 1U AMD servers, 32x WD SN655 NVMe SSDs, and a 100GbE fabric. Here’s a video of all the clicks as those SSDs get to work! The full report should be out soon.
