Deliveroo's Global Marketing Boss Adam Bishop Exits
Deliveroo’s chief global marketing and product officer, Adam Bishop, has left the business, ADWEEK has confirmed. He arrived at Deliveroo in 2021 as VP of its media, e-commerce, and global partnerships division. By 2022, he had been named VP of advertising, responsible for expanding its growing retail media network.
UK ad market surges 13.4% to top £10bn, outpacing Euro markets
According to the Advertising Association/WARC Expenditure Report, the UK advertising industry is experiencing a robust recovery, with Q2 2024 spend reaching £10bn, a 13.4% increase. In the first half of 2024, UK advertising spend increased by 13.5% to £19.6bn. The Advertising Association/WARC has upgraded its forecasts for 2024 by 2.9 percentage points and now expects ad spend to cross the £40bn barrier for the first time, reaching £40.5bn.
Lidl emphasises power of sharing in 2024 Christmas ad
Christmas campaigns are underway in the buildup to the festive season and Lidl has launched its 2024 Christmas ad, which emphasises the power of sharing festive joy as the retailer reopens its Toy Bank charity scheme. The ad, created by Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper, is designed to celebrate sharing and the true spirit of Christmas, as Lidl opens its Toy Bank scheme for 2024.

Instagram Now Has More Users Than Facebook in EU
Meta shared its latest EU user numbers for Facebook and Instagram as part of its Digital Services Act (DSA) obligations. The numbers show that Instagram now has more active users than Facebook’s in Europe. Instagram now has 269.1 million monthly active users in EU, versus 260.6 million for Facebook.

Harvey Nichols has appointed stylist and former Topshop director Kate Phelan to the newly created role of Creative Director.
