Case Study: Bakers Arms Development, Walthamstow
At JMS Engineers, we recently took on the challenge of designing the structural framing for a mixed-use development at the Bakers Arms site in Walthamstow. The project involves creating new retail units on the ground floor, with three additional storeys of residential apartments above.
Though the initial design had been completed, JMS was called in to value engineer the project. The site's constraints, including limited access and the building's footprint covering the entire plot, posed unique challenges. Our approach began with initial sketch layouts, transitioning to full 3D structural modelling, which helped us refine the design and ensure that the structure complemented the architectural vision.
The 3D models and elevation drawings illustrate our ability to identify potential pinch points and streamline construction processes. By working closely with the client and construction team, we were able to develop a robust and efficient structural design that balanced functionality with the aesthetic goals of the project.
