Delivering service is more about human kindness than you think.
I recently have observed some truly natural and instinctive service behaviours and it got me thinking about how underrated authenticity can sometimes be. Service can often be viewed as a formulaic or designer activity and it really doesn’t have to be that way. Service is an emotional interaction and one that when provided by someone who is enjoying delivering it can be extremely powerful and engaging. Often service is spoken about as industry specific and something that has to be taught, but I say that is old school thinking.
They say business is all about people, and this is something I happen to wholeheartedly agree with. Every interaction in the workplace can be viewed as a service interaction. Colleague to colleague, boss to subordinate, coach to mentor. If every interaction is valued in this way the workplace can become a seriously engaging place to be. If everyone views themselves as a service agent and every interaction as an opportunity to help someone, then magic can happen. A working environment can be much more engaging and much less political or toxic if we all play a role in delivering service and assisting each other. Sharing knowledge, dropping barriers and rejoicing in the success of others is just one of the positive by-products of a highly service focused environment.

Service doesn't need to be a rigid formula; it's powerful when delivered with genuine enjoyment. Imagine if every workplace interaction was seen as a service opportunity, creating a more engaging and positive atmosphere. Embracing this mindset can truly transform the way we work together!
