Delivering my TEDx Talk

Occasionally in life you have amazing experiences that stand out as being memorable in life. Saturday was one of them.
Speaking at a TEDx event was something I have had on my bucket list for several years now, but I don’t think I thought too much about it until my applications this year.
When people tell you that preparing for a TED talk is not like any other talk you give, they are right. It’s hard to explain why it matters so much, why you just want to get it so right and why preparing for it is like no other talk.
Maybe it is the time restriction of having a maximum of 18 minutes. Maybe it is because it will be added to all those other amazing talks on the TED website. Or maybe it is because of the potential of what it can bring and the rare chance of performing on the TED global stage.
What I can say is that the process is gruelling, emotional and frustrating alongside being rewarding, fulfilling and all encompassing.
What I didn’t expect was to meet a group of people who I would now call friends, who went through the process at the same time as me and who were such a supportive group of people that cared about every single person delivering a great talk on the day.
I feel privileged to have worked alongside these amazing speakers at this event and also to have worked with a wonderful team that organised the event. I’m sure there will be lots more to experience on this amazing journey as the videos are released and we see the impact of our talks on a wider basis. But for now, sit back, absorb the experience and reflect on what an amazing output was delivered on the day ??
