Delivering More in Housing: NHT Developers Programme is Here

Shelter (which in our modern era can be translated as housing) is a basic need of all humans and the NHT is strategically positioned to help bring all Jamaicans one step closer to meeting that need. With a continuously expanding contributor base of approximately 550,000, and in order to keep up with the growing demands of the market, partnership and collaboration are needed more than ever before.

Collaborative programs like the Developers Programme are one of the primary ways that we reshape the housing landscape and provide more high quality housing solutions for our contributors.

Developers Programme: Objectives & Methodology

Our goal is simple- make affordable housing accessible to our contributors in the low-income groups.

Developers will still maintain control of their project. You've got the reins from the planning phase straight through to handing over the solutions to us at NHT. We encourage private sector debt financing, and when the job's done, we step in and settle up on schedule. Need some land for your project? No worries – we can make that happen through a land transfer, and we can even include a bond (valued at 10% of estimated development cost) for good measure.

We're looking at a minimum of 80% of the solutions for sale to our contributors. The target purchase price is set at $11.5 million, ensuring affordability is at the core.

Your Chance to Shine – Standards & Assessment of Proposals

Together, we're not just building houses; we're setting standards. Accepted housing solutions must meet our criteria for structure types, finishes, and infrastructure. We're all about habitability and meeting the necessary regulatory agency requirements.

This means that the stage is set for your ideas to shine! The programme involves two main acts: Pre-Qualification and Request for Proposal. We'll be evaluating proposals based on purchase prices, development standards, project delivery time, and more.

Ultimately though, we’re looking for responsible developers who will manage their projects, provide developmental financing, and then sell their solutions to the NHT. We're looking for partners who can maintain project accounts, provide reports, and be a part of this transformative journey.
