Delivering the magic this Christmas.

Delivering the magic this Christmas.

In the entire world, only one supply chain can boast a 100% perfect order rating and a spotless on-time-delivery record. And that supply chain… is Santa’s.

Truly, nobody does logistics like the man in red. He has every aspect, every process completely locked down. Take a moment, to marvel at the depth of his mastery:

Demand planning

Santa is unfailingly aware of your Christmas wishes. In fact, he often knows what they are before even you do.

Procurement and production

Santa and his elf workforce manufacture, package and giftwrap millions of presents annually, across an astonishing array of product types. Incredibly, everything is produced on-site at a single North Pole location, with no outsourcing required.

Delivery

Santa delivers every one of these millions of items within a single 24-hour period, assisted only by a close-knit team of reindeers. Despite his punishing schedule, he still somehow finds time to chat to a handful of his key customers, i.e. children who really should be asleep.

Here’s something you may not know, however: while the peerless Team Santa are picking, packing and readying presents for delivery, DHL Supply Chain is preparing the UK and Ireland for the big day.

Right now, up and down the UK, 16,000 DHL colleagues are working day and night to help get Christmas trees into living rooms, turkeys into ovens, party dresses into cupboards and bubbly into fridges.

In fact, over the festive season, DHL Supply Chain will fill the nation’s retail shelves with no less than:

·      500 million chocolates

·      56 million sprouts

·      8 million decorations

·      13.5 million bottles of whisky

·      600,000 toy orders

·      4 million Christmas platters

·      100,000 Christmas trees

·      and 15 million presents – which means that one-in-five Britons will receive a present that’s been picked, packed and dispatched by a DHL colleague

Without those unsung DHL heroes, then, Christmas 2019 would be lacking a certain sparkle. They might not have flying reindeers or bright red suits with fetching fur trim, but they really do love delivering Christmas cheer to the nation.

A very merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, from everyone here at DHL!
