At SANRIA, we thrive on solving complex challenges through innovation and collaboration. Our recent project—designing the Dewatering and Truck Loading Buildings—showcases how meticulous planning, cutting-edge design, and teamwork can turn ambitious ideas into reality.
This project involved two intricately connected structures weighing 350 tons:
- Dewatering Building: Designed to efficiently remove water from materials, featuring advanced maintenance platforms, stair towers, and conveyor systems.
- Truck Loading Building: Engineered for safe and efficient loading of dewatered material into trucks, incorporating robust platforms, pipe supports, and safety features.
- Connections: Bolted double clip angle connections for ease of assembly and structural stability.
- Welded and bolted moment connections are used in areas where higher structural integrity is needed, ensuring the buildings can withstand operational loads and environmental factors.
- Design Methods: The OSHA 3-play method is applied to minimize the need for additional bolts when beams share common connections, optimizing the overall assembly process.
- Conveyor with Stairs: Designing the conveyor to handle slopes efficiently while integrating stair systems posed a coordination challenge.
- Integration of Various Systems: Coordination was required between piping, ductwork, and bin structures to avoid clashes and ensure operational efficiency.
- Safety Features: The inclusion of handrails, gratings, and proper glazing (where necessary) was critical for meeting safety standards.
- Rework and RFIs: The project involved significant coordination with vendors, resulting in 101 RFIs to address design and execution challenges.
- Managed tight schedules despite delays in RFI responses and other vendor drawings.
- Provided 241 Engineer of Record (EOR) notes, achieving 89% approval.
- Timely submissions, achieving GC schedules without compromise.
- Weekly updates and model sharing to maintain project transparency.
- Custom safety features like tie-off holes and tabs.
- Coordinated with vendor drawings for components like conveyors, ducts, pipes, pumps, and railings.
Both the fabricator and general contractor commended our commitment to excellence. As one client stated, “This job wasn’t easy to coordinate, but SANRIA’s efforts made all the difference.”
This project underscores our dedication to delivering quality, safety, and efficiency. At SANRIA, we’re ready to bring this level of precision and commitment to your next project. Let’s build the future together—connect with us to learn more!
