This project involved not only firmware and hardware integration but also creating a seamless user experience through smartphone interaction.

The Project: Smart Watch and Keychain with Advanced BLE Integration

The wearable project was designed to enhance the daily lives of users through two product variants: a smart watch and a smart keychain. These wearables were engineered to integrate deeply with smartphones, bringing an added level of convenience and control through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.

Key Features of the Wearable Solution:

• Seamless Smartphone Integration: The wearable connects to the smartphone and alters users with all critical smartphone events such as notifications, calls, and messages. This allowed users to stay connected without constantly checking their phones.
• Social Media Check-ins and Location Tagging: Users could effortlessly check in on apps like Facebook, tag their current location, and add notes or pictures. This information could then be shared directly through the application’s map interface, improving social connectivity and usability.

• Call Management: In situations where users were unable to answer calls, the device allowed for quick call rejections through a simple button press, minimizing interruptions.

1. Firmware Development on the Quectel FCE863R Chipset

Our team was responsible for the complete firmware development on the Quectel FCE863R, a low-power SoC that supports BLE communication. The key challenge here was optimizing the firmware to ensure minimal power usage while maintaining reliable communication with smartphones and maximizing device uptime. Sibrain’s extensive experience in BLE specifications and protocols was critical in developing a solution that not only met but exceeded performance expectations.

2. Companion Android Application Development

To complement the wearable device, Sibrain also led the UI development of the companion Android application. This app acted as the central control hub, allowing users to manage their device settings, access social media check-ins, view location tagging, and handle other functionalities such as camera/music control and call management. Our design philosophy centered on simplicity and ease of use, ensuring the app provided a fluid user experience that aligned with the product’s target audience.

3. Ongoing Maintenance, Bug Fixing, and Support
