Recently, we had the opportunity to partner with an exciting product startup from Europe to deliver a comprehensive BLE-based wearable solution. This project involved not only firmware and hardware integration but also creating a seamless user experience through smartphone interaction.
The Project: Smart Watch and Keychain with Advanced BLE Integration
The wearable project was designed to enhance the daily lives of users through two product variants: a smart watch and a smart keychain. These wearables were engineered to integrate deeply with smartphones, bringing an added level of convenience and control through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.

1. Firmware Development on the Quectel FCE863R Chipset
Our team was responsible for the complete firmware development on the Quectel FCE863R, a low-power SoC that supports BLE communication. The key challenge here was optimizing the firmware to ensure minimal power usage while maintaining reliable communication with smartphones and maximizing device uptime. Sibrain’s extensive experience in BLE specifications and protocols was critical in developing a solution that not only met but exceeded performance expectations.

2. Companion Android Application Development
To complement the wearable device, Sibrain also led the UI development of the companion Android application. This app acted as the central control hub, allowing users to manage their device settings, access social media check-ins, view location tagging, and handle other functionalities such as camera/music control and call management. Our design philosophy centered on simplicity and ease of use, ensuring the app provided a fluid user experience that aligned with the product’s target audience.
3. Ongoing Maintenance, Bug Fixing, and Support
Once the initial product development phase was completed, Sibrain’s commitment to customer success continued. Our team provided ongoing maintenance, quickly addressing any firmware or application bugs and ensuring that the product was stable and reliable across different user environments. We also provided prompt customer support, ensuring that the startup’s end users were always satisfied.
