Deliver November 2020: BODY Work

In the last Deliver for October 2020, I shared on living SLOWER. I recommend the read.
For this month, and after some experience and observation on same this very week or so, I offer up thought around how we best manifest and practice the virtue that is Confidence.
There are 4 core ingredients to the physical manifestation of same. They are applicable in teaching and leadership, communicating to 1 or 1,000,000. I call them the BODY Buttons.
Cleanliness is not simply about hygiene. It is about being aware and taking care of ourselves and our performance in life. I suggest Clean the BODY... and be aware of the physical platform you bring to the table. Be aware and maintain it. So let`s look at those BODY Buttons.
B is for BEAM
What goes on our face goes inside and outward. Our facial expressions communicate both to our own body and to the world ... how we are feeling. One can manifest an emotion by first acting it. Holding a smile for 30 seconds can change how you feel. Holding a frown can do the same. Our faces are not unlike palettes, and the colors (facial expressions) can and do sink in. They paint a picture, not only to the outside world but to our inner. It is less about faking it `til you make it and more about stepping on the gas until the engine catches. Often times, before a session or class, I will take a conscious inventory of my facial arsenal. In so doing, I can genuinely galvanize a capacity to direct and redirect energy.
O is for OXYGEN
Our breathing matters too. Our breathing can help dictate and demonstrate energy. Slowing breathing can help us to bring a more intimate energy. Deep breathing can help bring an intensity of energy. Warm-ups in sports are as much about getting our breathing right as they are about getting our muscles going.
D is for DANCE
Body language matters. Posture matters. By dance, I refer to how we carry ourselves. And, I might add, it must needs be genuine and not shtick. That implies that we must get used to how we best move in the same way an athlete works on technique to make it natural. To play at game speed, we need to get used to fundamental habits of movement and expand our base of operations.
Y is for YIELD
Our lives are important. We matter. Our being here matters. I deeply believe. Get our of our own way is the YIELD. Dealing with that inner voice of fear and doubt... to hear it and to respond `here goes`. Hell Yeah, here goes. This is Yielding. It is not lost on me that Yielding refers to both giving way to something and to brandishing something. Here, we Yield to a greater Confidence that everything will be OK. Here, we Yield our best arsenal in doing so by freeing ourselves thusly.
Check this out from Brent Smith of Shinedown. Here, Brent shares on some of things in line with same. Our best and most genuine performance is not unlike that of the athlete or actor or performer. Our lives are dictated and defined by what we bring to the table and how we deliver. Those BODY Buttons matter.
With that in mind, and into 2021, I will be returning to offering the free program for entrepreneurs, educators and leaders called DELIVER where we work on those fundamentals. It is a deep passion and purpose of mine and I humbly suggest you stay tuned. In the meantime, I invite you to check out Just and Fair.
... peace, passion and prosperity.

Lead, inspire, educate, and unite. Move forward together, stronger. My work is about bringing campuses, companies and communities together, moving forward stronger. I work with educators, entrepreneurs and emerging leaders to do just that. My work is about character leadership and education and its role in helping individuals and organizations build a better world at school, work, business and community. I deliver on it through speaking, coaching and development in character leadership and education. My expertise is character leadership and education. I advance unity in diversity by moving the needle on leadership and education that is high character and results forging. I speak, teach, coach, facilitate, lead, write, sing, dance, cartoon and create on that. In 1980, Professor Rolf Hattenauer changed my life. A highly respected expert in Human Resource Management, he expected much of us and he believed much in us. He was an educator and leader of high character. He was extraordinary. To this day and beyond, I try my darnedest to honor his spirit with my own work. That is another story. But I hope I did him service here.
