AND is delicious
As mentioned in yesterday’s blog, the other day I went to Yellow Springs in Ohio. After hiking John Ryan State Park, I filled my belly at Ellie’s Restaurant and Bakery located in the Mills Park Hotel. Though it was lunch time they had a couple hybrid brunch-ish items. In particular, the Shrimp and Grits and Chicken and Waffles both had my belly and mind in a war of indecision. I elected for the shrimp and grits but the lesson remained the same. “AND” is delicious. Some of the best culinary tandems have resulted from an AND. Shrimp and Grits. Chicken and Waffles. Meat and Potatoes. Spaghetti and Meatballs. Eggs and Bacon. This little connector brings together items that might not typically come together, yet give it time and they are a now a powerfully delicious, well-known, duo. AND isn’t just saved for the kitchen. AND finds itself on an improv stage, as well as in a dialectical behavior clinician’s office. A powerful representation of what can be accomplished when we work with each other, bring things/people together, and not “but” ourselves or others out. So the next time you have the option between AND or BUT. Try AND. I must say, it’s pretty delicious.
