In retrospect, we realized that there was an opportunity to improve the way we were dealing the topics of the project, that is, the levels for decision making, responsibilities and delegations;which caused us delays due to the lack of timely decision making, exhausting discussions, blurring of issues, noise, inappropriate environment for the generation of ideas and solutions; hence it was necessary to give us time to clarify and together make the agreed definitions of the levels of delegations.
We began our exploration with Delegation Poker:
- We put the large post-it on the wall
- We put the 7 levels of delegation in the header
- We list the topics that most interested us to clarify
- A deck of cards with these 7 levels for each member: Tell, Sell, Consult, Agree, Advise, Inquire and Delegate.
- We read each topic listed
- We presented the letter according to the level of delegation considered for the subject in question
- Depending on the differences in delegation levels, we would open a space of 3 minutes for clarification.
- We agreed on the level of delegation of the subject and marked it at the level corresponding to the Post-it
So we went through the topics listed one by one. until concluding the list.
Through Delegation Poker, we better achieve our organization in the group, clarity to work more autonomously, tranquility and confidence that the issues would be addressed according to the levels of delegation that we had established,
A few days after having done this exercise, in a conversation with the product owner We agreed that it was noticeable to resurface the empowerment and responsibility of team members, the visual effect of seeing the levels of delegation, responsibilities and the vote of confidence which is generated through this game, has a positive effect on team interactions.
I love these Management 3.0 tools from Jurgen Appelo, simple to implement with positive results, and for more information, you can visit:
