Delegating is Key to Achieving Work-Life Balance
You finish another project, check your to-do list, and see another dozen uncrossed boxes, but the week is almost over. Doesn’t it make you question if all of the items on your to-do list can be performed by you only?
Delegation is a skill that is useful not just in business but also in everyday life. This post will discuss delegation in further detail and demonstrate why delegating is essential for establishing work-life balance.
Why don't we delegate?
There are several reasons why we dislike delegating. Some people are perfectionists; they believe that doing everything alone is easier or that they can do it better than others. Others feel that delegating work would diminish their relevance, while others lack self-confidence and fear being outperformed. Don't think of yourself as immune to these biases, no matter how developed your self-awareness is. Instead, ask yourself directly what you are doing to counteract them. Accepting that you can't accomplish everything yourself is the first step toward delegation.
What improvements does delegating bring to life?
Delegating is not an excuse to avoid your own responsibilities or duties. It is a method of making time for activities that will make a difference in your life.
Remember the Pareto Principle: 80% of one effort leads to 20% of the outcome, while 20% of another effort leads to 80% of the outcome. Consider, broadly speaking, that by delegating that 80 percent, you leave yourself with the remaining 20 percent to be in charge of the main efforts, the results of which is progress.?
What should you do to properly delegate?
Assess your progress.
After you've identified what's getting in your way, the next practical step is to change your behavior pattern. In fact, few people know what to change or how to alter it. Most people can't recall exactly how they spent their day if you ask them. Keep a journal of how you spend your time. After a week, you'll be able to observe the entire system. You will most likely discover that a large portion of your time is spent on simple routines that may be simply delegated to others.

Choose the right people
Some people are hesitant to delegate because of unpleasant experiences in the past. Delegating work to employees who have the required abilities and drive to accomplish their tasks properly is critical.

Don't forget about the feedback.
Allow your helpers to give feedback. Remember that providing feedback to a supervisor might be difficult, so make it clear to them that you are always open to communication and want the same in return. Also, remind them that they are responsible for their own professional development, so if they see a project that interests them, let them ask for it.
Let the workflow run
Once delegated, your responsibility as a supervisor is to watch and support your subordinates, not to tell them what to do and how to do it every second. That does not mean letting them go completely; rather, it means developing critical thinking skills in them so that they mature in their ability to make difficult decisions for themselves. Otherwise, micromanaging will render the entire process ineffective.
