DELEGATE
I heard a good quote in a presentation at the Guidelines International Network conference which was focused on collaboration: “Anyone can do it better than me if I am not doing it.” –Ronald Seel, PhD, FACRM
You are most valuable where you add the most value. Everything else worth doing should be DELEGATED.
DELEGATION is not dropping responsibility.
DELEGATION is a form of entrusting others and empowering others. Effective DELEGATION includes remaining involved (Derek Stockley) -- checking in but not micromanaging – allowing others to have authority and take responsibility for development and implementation, but not abandoning the effort (that would be dropping or dismissing, not DELEGATING).
Time is infinite, yet time is fixed so time is our most limited resource.
Where you can DELEGATE and use your time to provide effective delegation, you can add the most value. Where you can identify something you can do that would help someone else DELEGATE to you, you may help others use their time more effectively.
