As a successful leader, you see the big picture, put the pieces together, make the difficult decisions and risk responsibility should things fall short. ?Without question, you deserve recognition for your success as leader.?

But success in business doesn’t happen by itself.?Success usually is the result of teamwork participating in achieving results.?How do you connect the team to the success?

A first step is by taking the focus off you and putting it on the team.?By recognizing the team and putting them front and center linking them to the success, you’re actually burnishing your stature as leader without saying so.?

Recognize each member’s contribution by privately thanking them for their role.?As important as it is to thank the individuals, it is equally important to reinforce their connection to the team overall, such that people feel special and fortunate to be on your team.?

Reinforce team exceptionalism by recapping the specific success at a team meeting. During that meeting, single out each member, in front of the team, and discuss their accomplishments, helping each person to feel connected to the team and to its success.

Success is a powerful motivator.?It motivates members to live up to the team’s expectations, to perform better overall and to cement loyalty to the team.?When it comes to business, everybody likes to work for a winner. By connecting team members to your successes helps them value their connection to it.
