DEI and POSH

Prevention of Sexual Harassment is one of the important factors highly valued in many organizations. As part of POSH Act 2013, we create awareness among employees on various methods for Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment.

Few smart organizations are adopting DEI strategies that automatically helps organization in creating a safe working environment. Now, you may wonder how does DEI help solve sexual harassment issues. Below are few strategies from my end on this comprehensive approach:

  1. Diversity sensitization among employees is a major factor to be adopted by companies when diversity hiring is being practiced. Without sensitization, employees who have been used to a particular type of set environment won't be able to adopt easily to a diverse background and thus many issues might pop up.
  2. Culture sensitization while dealing with people of multiple culture even within same country will help in eliminating various biases.
  3. When management is adopting a new strategy to promote equity and inclusion, it is very important to communicate the same among all the employees. Else there would be great unconscious bias among employees leading to several misunderstandings.
  4. Belongingness is the best feel good factor that an organization can provide to their employees, thereby promoting a great environment for everybody to work together.
  5. DEI & B when practiced in any organization in a comprehensive manner, can definitely help resolve many issues and foster a conducive environment for all.
