DEI Gone Wild: Why Forced Quotas Crush Human Potential

DEI Gone Wild: Why Forced Quotas Crush Human Potential

In the land of kale smoothies and therapy dogs, a new religion has sprouted: the Church of Equity. Its high priests, the cultural elite, preach a gospel of equity or "equal outcomes for all," which sounds good on a bumper sticker but translates to participation trophies for everyone.

Now, don't get me wrong, participation trophies are epic. Little Timmy gets one for showing up to soccer practice, even though he spent most of the time trying to eat dandelions. It's heartwarming! Except, what about Kevin, who actually practiced his footwork and scored the winning goal? Shouldn't Kevin get something a little more…well, not participation-trophy-ish?

Here's the thing: true equality is about giving everyone a shot, not guaranteeing everyone the same prize, regardless of effort. That's where meritocracy comes in, that glorious bastion of achievement often mocked by the participation-trophy crowd.

Think of it like this: imagine a race where everyone gets the same crappy participation sandals. Sure, it's "fair," but what about Usain Bolt over here with his custom Nikes? Meritocracy is like letting Bolt rock those Nikes – he deserves a shot at winning, right?

But these days, some universities are like that participation-sandal race. They're so busy achieving perfect demographic quotas that they're overlooking brilliant Asian kids in favor of, well, let's just say other demographics. It's like Teilnahme-Troph?en for college applications (that's German for "participation trophies," by the way, because everything sounds cooler in German).

The worst part? This "equity" crusade is spreading. Medical schools might soon be picking surgeons based on their identity politics tweets instead of, you know, their ability to operate without, you know, accidentally operating on the wrong kidney.

Look, celebrating diversity is awesome. But true diversity is about having a bunch of really talented people with different backgrounds and ideas, not just, you know, checking boxes. We need the best and brightest, regardless of what their parents put on their college fund applications.

So, let's raise a glass (of kale smoothie, if that's your thing) to meritocracy. It's not about aristocratic privilege, it's about giving everyone a fair shot at becoming a freaking rockstar (figuratively, of course, unless you're actually talented at guitar). Meritocracy smashes down socioeconomic barriers and lets people climb the ladder of success with nothing but their brains and, well, maybe some really good Nikes.

The alternative? A dystopia where everyone gets a participation trophy for existing. Now, that's a world I don't want to live in. Unless, of course, they're handing out those giant participation cupcakes again. Those things were delicious.
