Degrees Vs Learning!

I never wanted to write about this….not because that I don’t want to but at the same time I don’t intend to hurt the sentiments of anybody. One such recent incident compelled me to write about it. In a recent interaction with a group of fresh young champs (beginning their professional career) … I noticed 6 out of 7 are using eye glasses….which is more important the degree which enables you to get a job or it is the healthy eyesight rather your health. We as Indians, celebrate thick eyeglasses as sign of studious student. We celebrate somebody’s inheritance more than the hard achievement the other.

To simplify an English-speaking student’s (since childhood) English is bound to be better than a vernacular Student’s English (vernacular means-implied poor or lower income of the family). A vernacular student typically starts interacting in English not before the age of 16. If English so much essential for success…. German / France / Chinese economies should have collapsed by this time. Sometimes I wonder why so much fascination with the language. Communication is not about using fake accents rather to explain clearly what you want to communicate others. During my campus placements I have seen many Vernacular students being rejected on the ground of poor communication skills.

The arrogance in the face of Ukraine Returned students (not all) depicts the chronic ill-tempered brats of India. There are thousand other courses available in India… why only engineering or Medical degrees need to be prioritized. Every job has equal importance and I stand by it. There is severe shortage of skilled labors in India. Further the commitment level is so low the productivity suffers. As per my conviction contrary to the claims…. We will never be a manufacturing global hub. Simply because we don’t want our kids to work on those fields… the skilled workers will never be created.

MBA as degrees are decorated without much of practical experience again the course fee is so high the returns never makes any sense. Secondly these are used as tools to get a job and not to acquire knowledge. We have made CA degrees so vast in terms of curriculum without much of practical experience…. many people don’t try to attempt it. Trust me if we just share examples the course will be far easier and more enjoyable. ?The books are designed in the vested interest for consulting firms such that it uses beautiful jargons for multiple pages without giving any example. Then you are bound to approach a consulting firm whose job is to further to confuse you. On top of that TAX is written in such language that we can form any opinion based on your vested interest. In simple terms tax should just be simply templatized. It should be black or white and not grey. It has been kept like that so that people can use it to their interest.

To Summarize.

1)???People should prioritize the mental and physical wellbeing of their children rather than just degrees. Stop celebrating the prejudice patriarchy

2)???Let the child decide what he wants to do with a healthy mind

3)???Rather the cosmetics, the substance should matter more

4)???Not degrees but learning should be the priority?
