DEGENERATION or REGENERATION ?
BUSINESS AS USUAL OR RADICAL CHANGE TO SAVE OUR CIVILISATION AND THE ECONOMY

DEGENERATION or REGENERATION ?

"The loss of biodiversity on earth is not just an environmental issue; it's a ticking time bomb to the stability of our civilisation and the economic system that supports it"

"We humans and our civilization are entirely dependent on the biodiversity of Earth. Recent updates indicate that up to 55% of global GDP, equivalent to an estimated $58 trillion, is moderately or highly dependent on nature.

"The EU Nature Restoration Law estimates that for every €1 restored €38 is generated for our European Economies. The value of the pollinator's services alone is valued at around $500 billion, as 75% of our crops depend on them"

Why do we then ignore the critical services nature provides to humanity and our economies?

Systemic degeneration

Agriculture and its extensive value chain lie at the heart of our ecological challenges, accounting for over 75% of biodiversity loss and environmental degradation.

The decline in biodiversity triggers a cascade of issues: increased flooding, wildfires, droughts, extreme weather events, desertification, ocean dead zones to conflict, war and mass migration.

Immediate and Cost-Effective Solutions

We have viable alternatives that can be implemented immediately and at a relatively low cost: #RegenerativeAgriculture. This approach offers a sustainable solution to mitigate and reverse these pressing environmental issues. It's tried and tested and offers the same yield at much higher profit margins than the existing input dependent, biodiversity depleting system.

#Assetowners and #Assetmanagers have a choice today.

Continue to support for degenerative, chemical dependent, agriculture which will destroy natures ability to sustain half of our global economy (and mean stranded assets worth trillions) OR

Divest and ramp up investments into nature positive agriculture and restoration of natural ecosystems. Options with commercial and sustained returns are out there. Ranging from real asset models like Regenerate Asset Management 's #RegenerativeEuropeanSustainableAgriculture Fund, High Integrity Carbon Trading, Green bonds, Impact Funds, Conservation Finance, Water Funds or Savory Institute / Savory Foundation's global grass land initiative looking to restore up to 500 M hectares of grasslands worldwide, drawing down around 2,75 gt of atmospheric carbon annually - more than the combined EU emissions. The cost is a mere €4bn EURO over 10 years.

We need to build this plane as we are flying it so waiting for Regenerative Agriculture to represent a traditional volume market before beginning big asset owner deployment will not do it. We need money to flow NOW.

How do you begin?

Engaging Your Leadership and Investment Teams in Impact Investing

Ensure that your board, C-suite, investment teams, and investment committees grasp the essentials and opportunities of impact investing, recognising how commercial and impact returns can now coexist synergistically.

Assessing Biodiversity Risk and Reallocating Investments

Evaluate the systemic exposure of your portfolio to biodiversity risks. Begin with investment areas in sectors like Agri-Food and Chemicals that need divestment as soon as possible. Start by scrutinising both direct and indirect equity holdings in these sectors.

Strategizing for Commercial and Catalytic Returns

Map out where your capital can simultaneously achieve commercial returns and drive catalytic change. In cases where investment opportunities are scarce, collaborate with your asset managers to develop them. Leverage established expertise to guide this process.

Aligning Stakeholders and Collaborating within the Industry

Maintain alignment with your key stakeholders, including pension holders and regulators, throughout this transformative journey. Engage with industry peers to navigate and address the challenges, ensuring the successful implementation of your impact investing strategy.

Not only will you be able to deliver on your funds' long term mission and raison d'etre, you also position it at the forefront of creating a new financial system.?

A financial system that supports life in all its beautiful forms.?
