Defragmentation - Data "Islands"
I've been thinking about this question for many, many years now.
What can school districts do to collect and centralize various islands of data so that the first point-of-data-entry is integral and can populate critical systems for full-state reporting? I realize this is a loaded question and there is no "Red Easy Button," yet. I believe it is worth asking and exploring.
Attendance Accounting, Master Scheduling, and Full-State Reporting are the three primary focuses of the Student Information System (SIS), from my point-of-view as the SIS Administrator and CALPADS Superintendent "Certifier." What if, the SIS functionalities are extended so that data synchronization with full-state reporting is an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or a scheduled task?
After years of "scrubbing" volumes of data, yes, of all sorts, there must be something that can be done by a team of SIS developers - a collaboration maybe.
More to follow...stay tuned...
