Defogging Decontamination

Did you know?
39% of employees admit to not washing their hands properly after going to the toilet and only 11% will clean up after themselves properly when eating at their desk.

As the country begins to re-open, cleanliness, hygiene and safety has never been so important. With pubs, hairdressers, gyms and clothes shops up and down the UK welcoming back the public, reducing the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring the safety of employees and customers remains a priority. Measures taken by employers and their cleaning teams must be thorough, regular and completed to the highest possible standards.

The cleaning industry hasn’t traditionally been seen as a trailblazer for the implementation of innovative technology. However, as the world looked to the sector to help protect us all from COVID-19, it became clear that developing and investing in innovation was crucial to manage the crisis effectively.

From robotics to drones, digital solutions and nanotechnology, the leap the industry has taken during the last year is like nothing witnessed before. However, it’s clear that not all cleaning companies are quite ready to fully embrace change.

According to ISSA, ‘some companies have a sufficient innovation strategy, but not all’, and this is having a notable effect on consumers. The calibre of cleaning has reduced, cleaners are not in touch as frequently as clients need them to be and trust has broken down between both parties, a stressful situation for any client.

But thankfully, this isn't the case across every single provider.

One area we have continuously invested in and developed is our rapid response decontamination service. From state-of-the-art cleaning equipment such as ride-on sanitisers to creating and nurturing partnerships with world-renowned antimicrobial chemical suppliers; we’ve created an offering that is designed to help effectively reduce the spread of pathogens and bacteria.

Of course, this all sounds impressive, but what does decontamination really mean? You won’t be alone if you’re not sure - here is a summary of how it works in six simple steps.

  1. Firstly, our staff get themselves ready – you may have seen pictures (like the one above) of our team looking like extras from Ghostbusters. But it is vital we keep them safe, and so they use only the best equipment
  2. Before any sprays are used, all surfaces are cleaned, ensuring they are free of dust, dirt and grime.
  3. Using the most innovative machinery on the market, including electrostatic sprayers, we cover all surfaces with our EN14476-approved chemical, proven to be effective against the human coronavirus for up to 90 days.
  4. This neutralises any viruses or bacteria on those surfaces, as well as neutralising any airborne pathogens too. No nook or cranny is missed here!
  5. Once the area has been treated, it’s safe to use again in just one hour, meaning there’s no delay to your working day.
  6. We recommend all high traffic areas are decontaminated at least once every 28 days, with areas of lower footfall needing attention every 60 – 90 days.

When it is carried out by a professional and alongside a daily disinfection and cleaning routine, it offers a much higher level of protection than usual cleaning habits alone. When the average office keyboard harbours 7500 bacteria yet only 11% of workforces admit to cleaning them properly, the case for preventative measures like rigorous decontamination is clear!

Decontamination is for life, not just for COVID-19.

The use of decontamination services, such as ours, have seen a huge increase over the past 12 months. Even as COVID-19 is brought fully under control, I believe there remains a strong case for continuing regular decontamination in public venues and offices. Not only will it keep employees, customers and clients safe from frequently caught illnesses such as colds and flu, but it will have an incredibly positive effect on the happiness of you’re the workforce, increase customer satisfaction and bolster brand reputation.

Perhaps if it's considered the amount of bacteria dispersed into the surrounding area of a non maintained hot air hand drier, not washing hands may be a leaser of the evil's ?

Have always known hygiene standards are low and that relates to both male and female . Further education required ,in and after this virus matter is more or less resolved.

I really hope so, we all have a duty of care as adults! I know my son who is in Junior School, its part of their daily routine, also when returning home a family route. I definitely more conscious of touch points in public areas.

It never fails to amaze how many people walk out of the loo without washing their hands. Horrifying.
