‘Success isn't about how much money you make, it's about the difference you make in people's lives.’
— Michelle Obama, former US first lady
If recent events in the world teach us anything, it is that young people are the drivers of social change. The young people at LiC have certainly been giving up their free time to be involved in our social action projects since 2009.
Last year LiC supported over 300 young people to contribute 2,000 more voluntary hours to their community. This is not just about giving back. Together they add a value of £20,000 to our local economy, which for a small charity like LiC makes 10% of our overall annual income. That level of contribution is tremendous and should be celebrated widely. This is an example of how grassroots charities can make a huge impact.
Hannah, 13, is from our recent pool of young leaders at LiC. Engaging people like her is essential, not only for her personal development and well-being but, for the community she lives in. She is not only a participant but a leader, and this is one of the reasons why we exist.
Hannah talks about her future ambitions and achievements. Like many other inspirational role models who are passionate about making the world and society better for future generations. Through their drive and motivation, they will inevitably push for the necessary changes to our world. We are incredibly honoured and proud to support these great young people.
