Defining your principles: The experiment to be more decisive in business and life

Recently, I've been called to make big decisions in my life, and leap whole heartedly into change.

I was feeling indecisive about some of my choice options, and took some space to reflect on that.

Indecisiveness sometimes comes to me if I’m trying to press for an answer from a perspective that is narrow - especially if there are more resonant opportunities open to me.

Earlier in the year, I wrote out my principles - and even made a blog post about it. (https://daniellelynn.com/an-exercise-writing-your-principles/)

At the start of the month, I revisited these principles, and explored with a curious and open heart at how many of these I was consciously living day to day.

I found some were being applied more than others - so I decided to commit to a full month of daily, committed focus and embodiment of my principles.

That means, no matter how seemingly inconvenient, or challenging living them was, I have put myself all in with these principles - and will see what happens.

It’s only been a few days so far - however, I have felt a surge of purposeful energy. No major changes in my external environment or situation, other than a widening of perspectives, a deeper willingness to say complete YESes or NOs to situations, people, and experiences - based on how they resonate with my current choice.

I’m even more decisive with the meals I eat - much to my husband's joy.

I feel we’re all unique people, each with our own set of unique principles that inspires and energizes us.

Our principles will grow and shift with us - and I trust when we outgrow any or when they change, we will know and shift them - or explore new principles.

I’m sharing this experiment with you as it has already had such a substantial impact in my life - and I figured someone might enjoy giving it a try themselves.

(Especially if you want to get in touch with your decisiveness and your ability to discern what’s right for you)

Hope this post has helped make your day that much better.
