With 3.5 million entrepreneurs in Canada whom all represent diverse entrepreneur profiles. There are a number of ways to define the entrepreneur, but what is your personality traits as an entrepreneur that defines you into 6 categories: "world changer, innovator, opportunist, jack of all trades, serial entrepreneur or wantrepreneur".
For me personally I grew up as a 3rd generation entrepreneur and when I look back at my grandfather, I think of him as a "world changer", he had a vision and idea that would serve so many people, his focus was serving the greater good in a huge way. In his process of taking an idea to the next level he believed in giving. He spent his life opening up churches, temples, helping the blind, opening orphanages, feeding the need, while running a multi-million dollar company and raised eight children. (I consider myself blessed as I was given many of his traits in coming from a place of service and here to make the world a better place). When I look at my parents some would define them as a serial entrepreneur, as my father was the ideas-man and my mother was the brains behind every operation. As they ran 18 different businesses in Ontario and even ventured out of Canada in the hotel industry. You name the business they did it. For them it was a system, they followed their intuition, opened the operation, built it up, established and sold it off as they moved on to their next adventure while raising four children. They had the same philosophy my grandfather had and that was "give back" in every way and that's exactly what they did, they would be involved in community or helping as many people as possible. To me I define them as soulpreneurs it was in their blood and they did it with passion and love of creating a better life for not only their children, the communities they supported and lives they touched.
I believe these 6 types of entrepreneurs are not limited to one group. Since I was a young child, “I was clear on one thing and that is “why I was here”. I was here in this body and in this world to do great things for generations to come”. In my 16+ years of entrepreneurship and the six styles of entrepreneurs I can say we may have qualities from one or more groups as we are visionaries and within our own businesses were always doing research or looking to refine or improve processes or come up with an idea that might be mind-blowing.
The 6 Traits of the Entrepreneur.
1. World Changer:
I think of people like Gandhi who's impact was a mission of peace and believed in the greater good and the world would change for the better. Or maybe you've been an activist of some kind and have a company to be a positive impact to the world.
2. Innovator:
A creator of a product or service. You were given the gift of coming up with ideas for products or services or ways to enhance old ideas. Your passionate about the ideas and may need some help with delegating tasks to that empire.
3. Opportunist:
You do your research and intuitively know when to run, stop, jump or flow
4. Jack of All Trades:
I call this the art of diversification, you will try almost anything as you have a knack for risk taking. The "jack of all trades" are also considered followers as they tend to follow the latest trends or try and test them out. Some enter entrepreneurship for the advantage of being a self starter or not having to work for anyone.
5. Serial Entrepreneur:
You wake up and an idea hits you, grab that paper or phone and jot it in, before you lose the thought. The search for the next big thing. Definitely a leader but learning from past mistakes and failures and applying them to the next thing will assist in your business ventures.
6. Wantrepreneur:
The desire to be an entrepreneur, you have ideas and the work to be done for those ideas are still waiting, challenge is the lack of motivation and drive to get things up and running.
