Defending the digital realm: Key findings from the GDS Security Insight Summit
At the recent GDS Security Insight Summit North America, CISOs and security industry leaders came together to discuss the pressing security industry challenges. Hosted by Kristina Cartwright , senior executives explored key themes, from AI implementation to the human factors in cybersecurity – with the shared goal of driving the future of security.
Who are our attendees?
92 attendees, from 78 unique brands joined the GDS Security Insight Summit, all of them leading professionals in the security sector, including CISOs, VPs of Security, and Directors of Threat Prevention.
On average, these security professionals boasted a budget of $26 million, with the average project spend estimated to be $13 million.
What are security leaders focusing on?
The top project spending focus unveiled at the summit was data security – an essential aspect of the security landscape in 2024. Other notable spending focuses for our attendees included consulting, digital transformation, adaptive security, and ATP / threat intelligence / OSINT.

He highlighted discussions from the summit, including Katie Arrington ’s, Former CISO in the Department of Defense, presentation: ‘Shaping cybersecurity strategy’ and Annam Iyer ’s, Product Manager at Wiz keynote, ‘Accelerate AI innovation securely with AI-SPM’.
Pulling it altogether, Griffith noted that:
“All of these discussions underscore?the need to “build in” security from the onset of each solution, coding through deployment.”
He also underlined the importance of some key areas to consider, including investing in build infrastructure, implementing safeguards, and building future-friendly security solutions.
