Defence Choices for the Next French President

France has been the most militarily active European member of NATO in recent years, including a large domestic deployment because of an ongoing state of emergency. The next French President may have to make some major defence policy choices; on operations, spending, capabilities and international partnerships. In a new policy brief for the Center for Security Studies at ETH Zürich, I analyse if the next French President can maintain France's ambition to be a European power with global reach.
