Deere Information Tech Stack enables smarter and more efficient business operations
Every day inside John Deere Global IT we are working to make our business smarter and more efficient through the utilization and modernization of our Information Tech Stack. A particular area of focus is the business value of robotic and intelligent process automation on the future of work. Several internal stakeholders, representing functional areas of accounting & finance, supply management, logistics, human resources, manufacturing, and our financial services business, have embraced automation to deliver great business outcomes.??
A recent example from supply management highlights how automation can drive higher levels of engagement, productivity and effectiveness. In this instance, the team used bots to track 10 times the number of targeted shipments over what was being done manually. Supply management professionals became even more engaged as they could now focus on more strategic work and conversations versus completing repetitive, mundane tasks. This is only one case study of where our supply management group is using digital tools to further their Smart Connected supplier network journey.?

All the examples from our business operations highlight that an intelligent automation transformation is two-fold: the right technology tools and the right mindset.?Knowledge of the most efficient tool for automation and empowerment of individuals closest to the process to make changes or to automate steps to augment and improve their work is the appropriate first step. Our IT organization continues to enable both the technology platform and guidelines for citizen practitioners to successfully embrace automation into their daily work. As importantly, product team members across the different functional areas and in IT are continually adjusting their mindset about the process steps and role of automation, all in the spirit of experimentation, to deliver enhanced, quantifiable business outcomes for our customers and other end users.??
Further embracing automation in our internal business processes makes for some exciting times at John Deere and the Global IT team is focused on enabling self-service intelligent automation wherever possible. As colleagues inside and outside of IT continue to upskill further in this area, these efforts are crystallizing our aspirations of a Smart Industrial company into a daily reality.?
